Metcard - Fare types

Page last modified/checked: Monday, 6th April, 2009
In this section, examples of each of the different Metcard fare types are shown. These are the core of the basic ticketing and fare structure and available to the travelling public to choose from without restriction, except of course for the conditions applicable to the individual tickets themselves. For that information, you should visit the metlink (formerly Victrip) website or obtain a current Fares and Travel Guide. We have included some facts and background information to put a different slant on this part of the website. The following links will lead to scans of all machine-printed issues, a number of pre-encoded issues, plus a brief description of the history of the fare types. One or two examples are provided on each page.

Remember, this is an UNOFFICIAL site, so for any ticketing details, ALWAYS refer to the particular Public Transport Operators' site, the metlink (formerly Victrip) site or the Metcard Help Line. From the 5th of January 2004, metcard purchases may also be made on-line from http://store.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/.
