Short Trip tickets were withdrawn effective with the fare rise from 1st January 2004. Section points along tram and bus routes have ceased to exist, bringing an end to a form of fare calculation as old as Melbourne's street based transport itself (with the exception of National Bus Company). A new ticket known as "City Saver" was introduced with the fare rise and is a partial substitute for Short trip tickets. Please see the City Saver page for details of the new ticket type.
