Daily Tickets

Page last modified/checked: Monday, June 25, 2007
These tickets are the successors to the hugely successful "Travelcard" which originated with the initial Zone 1-2-3 fare system in October 1981.
The Travelcards were the first tickets to offer unlimited all day travel on ALL metropolitan transport services.

Daily 5 Pack

Effective with the fare rise on 1st January 2004, all daily tickets are now also offered in booklets containing 5 pre-encoded tear-out tickets at a price discounted to that of purchasing individual tickets. This marketing technique, to encourage pre-purchase, has not been used since the 1990 scratch ticket era. The booklets are sold from retail outlets, the Met shop, the Metcard help line and online, although stocks were not received by the former two until the second week of January. Concurrent with the 1st January 2005 fare rise, the prices for the 2-Hour x 10, 5 x Daily, Daily 5 pack and Weekly tickets were standardised. These tickets still provide a saving when compared to individual purchases of 2-Hour or daily tickets.

This notice regarding the daily 5-pack was briefly posted on the metlink site

Removal of Daily 5 Pack Metcards: From Sunday, 1 April 2007
Date Published: Friday, 30 March 2007

Metcard customers are advised that from Sunday, 1 April 2007, Daily 5 Pack Metcards will no longer be available for sale. Instead passengers can purchase 5 x Daily Metcards.
