2004 Pre-Encoded blue generic design
"S-" designator

Page last modified/checked: Tuesday, 23 August, 2005
With the introduction of the City Saver 10 in January 2004 came a new "S-" (S hyphen) designator, which has subsequently appeared on further pre-encoded tickets as S-1 to S-6 inclusive. It is understood that the "S" denotes manufacture at Magnadata's St.Marys facility in NSW.

The magnetic strip used on these tickets is a Heat Lamination tape rather than a glued-down tape. It is also noted that the dot matrix print on these tickets has a greater clarity than many previous pre-encoded tickets.

During March 2005, certain S- designator metcards with a 127 01007 prefix were issued with an additional, smaller metcard logo (in black) printed above the original base design of the logo. The reason behind this is currently unknown - however it is worth noting that the same logo appears in the same place on the Sunday Saver tickets.

By the time the numbering had reached 04,500,000 (or thereabouts) the black metcard logo was no longer appearing.
