Travel Guides

This full colour, five panel brochure did not really have an exact title and the first issue did not even have a date of publication! It was one of a number of publicity items produced by the M.T.A. marketing division in 1985 and dates from August. The brochure explained how the neighbourhoods and ticketing options worked and included a map of the rail and tram routes. The first of three fare rises during the currency of the neighbourhood system occurred on the 10th November 1985, and from this point on the guide was enhanced to include a comprehensive fares chart. This feature remained and today the brochure is known as the Fares and Travel Guide.

At left is the first edition which was rereleased for the November 1985 and July 1986 fare increases, with only detail differences to the illustrations of the vehicles on the cover. The middle edition was for the July 1987 fare increase, but the last one was a reprint to maintain availability of this now popular guide. The fare chart in this one was formatted differently to the others.
