The Inner Neighbourhood Fare Restructure

From Sunday 27th May 1984, significant changes occurred to fares and ticketing within the Inner Neighbourhood. All 10 line-specific, rail only weeklies were withdrawn from sale and replaced by the multi-modal Inner weekly travelcard. This change actually occurred at 3pm on Friday 25th May when replacement stock of the Inner weekly travelcard with a new printed price of $10 went on sale.
As a consequence of this price reduction, the fares for Inner travelcards and 1, 3, 6 and 12 month periodicals were also reduced from 27th May. The cost of all other tickets within the Inner neighbourhood remained the same.

At left are Inner travelcards featuring their lowered price. At right is one of the leaflets that had to be reprinted for Inner travelcard tickets, as well as periodical tickets to advise of new lower prices.
The withdrawn rail-only weeklies are all shown in the review of the Inner neighbourhood. Perhaps these weeklies had been provided simply to maintain consistancy and choice within the range? Whatever the reason, their low sales and the opportunity to prune the number of tickets required won the day.
