Student Passes 2007

The 2007 student passes are most unusual in that they appeared with "pre-encoded" style front printing. They still needed to be issued via the BOM which now identified them as "METRO STPASS". The fares for Zone 1 and Zones 2/3 were standardised at this time in conjunction the forthcoming abolition of Zone 3 in March 2007. Subsequently, the first half yearly was printed as "107", the second half yearly as "207". (It is not known why the second half yearly shown below still refers to Zone 1). The fronts of the Yearly and 2nd Half Yearly still gave an expiry date but also gave reference to the impending introduction of the myki smartcard system. A clue as to when the government intended that this would occur by is the fact that this reference did not appear on thr front of the first half yearly passes.
