Two different designs are known for this initial use of the "metlink" brand name on Metcards. The same message is repeated on the 1st and 3rd cards (eg J-a1 and J-a3), whilst the other message is repeated on the 2nd and 4th cards (eg J-a2 and J-a4). A very plain looking card, its purpose is to advertise the new Helpline telephone number (131 638), the Victrip website (now the metlink website) and publicise the metlink brand. Machine and bus issues are known.
