Other AFC Enabled Magnetic Strip TicketsPage last modified/checked: Thursday, April 26, 2007We have created this separate section to take account of the growing number of magnetic strip tickets that are NOT part of the official Metcard ticketing system operated by Onelink. The tickets featured here have been produced by the private companies who operate different segments of Melbourne's transport system exclusively for use on their services. It is expected that further ticket varieties will be added as the private transport operators investigate new initiatives in sourcing patronage. Because the magnetic strip tickets shown in section are not sold through the normal Onelink channels, we believe the revenue from their sales goes completely to the transport operator(s) that issues them. The basic requirement that a ticket has to meet to be included in this section of the website is that although it has a magnetic strip, and is able to be used in a validator and/or automatic fare gate, the ticket is issued for use on a specific service, or within a specific area - rather than be available on a system-wide basis. Having said that, though, we will not be including the rail+2 and short trip tickets in this section, as they were inherent in the original ticketing system.
