Concurrent Non-Metcard TicketsPage last modified/checked: Saturday, January 24, 2004A number of non-Metcard tickets have been trialled mainly for marketing, promotional, or specific purposes; that is to say, they are temporary in nature. Also they are completely separate from the Metcard system and we take the term "concurrent" to mean from the commencement of the rollout of the Metcard system in August 1996. We acknowledge that there are other non-Metcard tickets that still exist as part of the permanent fare structure and pre-date the Metcard system and therefore are not included here. A good example is the "Nightrider" bus ticket, and remnants of the Met Ticketing system which are still on issue today. Usually, the tickets illustrated herein are either thin card or paper, and of course, not designed for use with validators or automatic fare gates. Being independant of the Metcard system, it allows all revenue collected to go directly to the operator(s) offering the promotion. Unfortunately, we have not been able to obtain samples of all the tickets we cover in this section and it can now be reasonably assumed that the only record of their appearance will be the black and white scans taken from staff circulars. As well, this listing may not be complete, and there may be other tickets we have yet to discover.!
